6 Week Neuro Emotional Literacy Program 

Free Program Hosted by HIES Literacy Outreach 

What is it?      Six one-morning-per-week workshops with a focus on how emotions work in the brain and the body, how emotions can be recognized and managed, and how you can learn to better manage your emotions.

Job Opportunity: Child, After-School & Teen Programs Co-ordinator

Position Available: Child, After-School & Teen Programming Coordinator
Term: September – end of June 15hrs/wk.
We are looking for a resourceful person with community vision, who enjoys taking
initiative & supporting team members with their duties.

The CAT Programming Coordinator oversees, coordinates & supports HIES staff in
the planning and delivery of our key community programs for toddlers, children and
youth on Hornby Island. The person in this position operates as a public face for HIES
and will be fostering relationships with families, local organizations, and School District
71. This position requires consistent, professional communication in person, by phone
and via email.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the planning, delivery and supervision of HIES Afterschool & Youth programs, as well as Toddler Drop-in.
• Coordinate and collaborate with community members & the Hornby Island Community School to deliver quality, inclusive programming.
• Develop and manage efficient administrative systems for program registration, record-keeping, and documentation.
• Seek out potential funding opportunities and assist in preparing grant applications and grant reports.
Required Skills:
~ Excellent communication skills and the capacity to manage/coordinate multiple calendars.
~ Confident with either Microsoft Office software OR Google Docs.
~ Previous grant writing & reporting experience desired.

Starting Wage:       $27/hr.
