After School Program

The HIES After School Program offers a variety of enriching programming for children from Kindergarten to Grade 7 and welcomes our island home-schooled children. Programs run from Monday – Thursday, 3:30pm – 5:30pm, located in The Hornby Island Community School to access the Ravens Room for creating & making activities, the Gym for dance & athletic activities, the school Playing Fields for sports & bike activities, or the HIES Room To Grow building for special activities – some programming will take the children to special locations around the island, like the CHFR Hornby Community Radio Station!…

These programs are scheduled and coordinated by HIES staff and are made possible by drawing from our diverse community: volunteers from young adults to elders, who offer mentoring and share their unique skills – in the Arts, Sciences, Nature Activities, Sports, Crafts and more!

At least one HIES staff person (sometimes two) is present to oversee these programs and support the instructor/mentor who is leading the activity.
